The REDHORSE Association was formed in 2001 as it was determined there was a need for all USAF Combat Civil Engineers to remain in touch, re-establish old friendships, create new ones, perpetuate our spirit and traditions, represent the interests, provide a fraternal atmosphere, encourage social interaction, develop a scholarship fund and support our members in their time of need.
Our Missionis to increase awareness of the USAF Combat Civil Engineers accomplishments and tradition of excellence past and present during war and peace time with the American populace, preserve our proud heritage, share our legacy and to foster strong and mutually beneficial relationships among government, educational and civic leaders. It is our desire to be a significant force of support towards the USAF CE strategic mission, to be able to contribute to the over all morale and enhance the welfare of our profession.
We are a non-profit, tax exempt, non-commercial professional military association that exists to support, promote and develop the interests of all past, present, Active, AFRC and ANG USAF Combat Civil Engineer professionals.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE DWYER, Afghanistan -- Before the arrival of the
809th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron, the occupants were living in a
British compound lined with tents relying solely on supplies brought in
from convoys and air drops. Now, the vital role of the Red Horse
mission is providing aerial access into this region of Helmand
province.
"As U.S. forces produce smaller combat outposts in Helmand province to
soldify our position in combating terrorism and rebuilding
infrastructure in Afghanistan, [Forward Operating Base] Dwyer provides
a hub for United States Forces - Afghanistan to put combat and medevac
assets into use," said Capt. Vincent Rea, 809th Expeditionary Red Horse
Squadron detachment officer in charge. "Having the capability to bring
fixed and rotary aerial assets here is huge asset for servicemembers
here."
9/3/2009 - MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- When
the morning sun has fully breached the horizon on Forward Operating
Base Dwyer, it is already 115 degrees Fahrenheit. The small, formerly
British post in southern Afghanistan hosts a team of Airmen as they
labor in the desert. Winds howl at 35 kilometers per hour across open
acres of land sending dust throughout the work sites where a $911,000
air strip has been constructed.
It's not abnormal for visibility to be less than 50 feet on the new 4,300-foot flight line. In this environment, the 809th Expeditionary RED HORSE Squadron has accomplished a task no previous RED HORSE unit has.
Ohio National Guard Soldiers and Airmen, along with members of the
Serbian armed forces, are remodeling schools throughout Serbia from
Aug. 15 until school starts on Sept.1.
The Ohio Army National Guard's 1194th Engineer Company and the Ohio Air
National Guard's 200th RED HORSE (Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy
Operational Repair Squadron Engineers) are currently helping to
refurbish schools in Sokobanja, Lapovo, and Prokuplje as part of the
National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program. The program supports
the U.S. European Command's military-to-military exchange program
designed to facilitate familiarization with the operations of the U.S.
Armed Forces. Ohio's partnership with Serbia began in September 2006.
--Camp Blanding, Florida—“REDHORSE--the
Gators got nothing on you! Zero areas that did not comply!
You did an awesome job, and the Adjutant General will let the Governor
know about this!”—that was the assessment today of Brigadier General Joseph
Balskus on a Unit Compliance Inspection completed this week on the 202nd
RED HORSE Squadron. General Balskus (Commander of the Florida Air Guard) said
RHS had “zero areas that did not comply! Only one other time in RED HORSE
history did they have a RED HORSE unit that had zero areas that did not
comply—and that was TEN years ago! The signage, landscaping, foyer with
the big screen television, attitude, and most important of all—the heart—it all
counted. I’m proud of each and every one of you!”

7/30/2009 - BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- The Barksdale Freedom Riders sponsored a Highway Run to raise money for Staff Sgt. David Flowers, 2d Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technician, who was injured during his recent deployment.
While Sergeant Flowers was deployed with the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, he stepped on an anti-personnel mine while his team was clearing a weapons cache. Sergeant Flowers lost his right leg below his knee during the explosion. His left leg was also completely shattered and he broke his right wrist and hand.
