Welcome

Welcome to the REDHORSE Association

An Association of Past and Present Members of Prime BEEF and RED HORSE

"Let's make us greater, together"

The REDHORSE Association was formed in 2001 as it was determined there was a need for all USAF Combat Civil Engineers to remain in touch, re-establish old friendships, create new ones, perpetuate our spirit and traditions, represent the interests, provide a fraternal atmosphere, encourage social interaction, develop a scholarship fund and support our members in their time of need.

Our Mission is to increase awareness of the USAF Combat Civil Engineers accomplishments and tradition of excellence past and present during war and peace time with the American populace, preserve our proud heritage, share our legacy and to foster strong and mutually beneficial relationships among government, educational and civic leaders. It is our desire to be a significant force of support towards the USAF CE strategic mission, to be able to contribute to the over all morale and enhance the welfare of our profession.

We are a non-profit, tax exempt, non-commercial professional military association that exists to support, promote and develop the interests of all past, present, Active, AFRC and ANG USAF Combat Civil Engineer professionals.

Membership applications are available on this web site (the second red tab on the top left of this page) or feel free to contact us for more information.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of "our father" Gen Tom Meredith. Gen Meredith passed away in his sleep, Feb 20, 2013.

Funeral will be 2:00pm Fri Mar 1, 2013, at the Wells Funeral Home, 3715 Ashville Highway, Canton, NC 28716. Visiting hours will be 6-8:00pm Thurs Feb 28, 2013 at the same funeral home.

Following, is a message from Maj. Gen. Timothy A. Byers, Civil Engineer, US Air Force.

CE Family -

It is with great sadness we acknowledge that BG William "Tom" Meredith passed away Wednesday night after an intense fight with cancer.  As many of you know, BG Meredith was an engineering visionary, helping to launch the Prime BEEF and RED HORSE capabilities that have delivered unrivaled engineering capability from Vietnam through Operation NEW DAWN, and in countless humanitarian assistance missions in between.  Brig Gen Meredith was a veteran of both WWII and Vietnam, earned the prestigious SAME Newman Medal, and was honored by Air Command and Staff College as the first support officer to be recognized as making enduring contributions to air and space power during its annual Gathering of Eagles event.

BG Meredith's legacy is one of adapting and overcoming, one that inspires us all to make a positive difference wherever we serve.  Enlisting as a Private in the Army Corps of Engineers, BG Meredith received a battlefield commission in the China Burma India Theater during WWII.  He transferred to the USAF in 1949, served in multiple theaters, rose to be the Tactical Air Command Civil Engineer, and retired in 1973 as the Assistant for Facilities Management in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.  We memorialized his legacy by commissioning the Meredith Trophy to recognize the winning team during our Readiness Challenge Competition.

BG Meredith is succeeded by his wife, Patricia, and his daughter Midge.  Please join me in offering them, and their extended families, our prayerful support.
